About

Small businesses having a big impact

A band of academics and ex-corporate optimists, we started out in 2019 with the goal of ensuring that all small businesses are able to find tailored, sustainable solutions and build thoughtful supply chains. Working out how to do that was a longer journey which led us to creating Greener – a platform where agrifood businesses can grow their market, their network and their green credentials – in June 2021.

Mission

Changing the sustainability equation for small businesses.

We don’t need to tell you that climate change is already impacting people around the world, and that the effects are worsening at a serious clip. Clearly, “business as usual” is no longer an option.

When it comes to helping small businesses tackle these challenges, there are a lot of possible solutions out there. It can be hard to know where to begin. But as we started looking around, we found three key issues with the majority of products currently available.

1

They talk about the problems

without offering answers.

2

They are frustratingly
complicated.

3

They aren't easy

to act on.

We need to create radical change that faces up to the new climate normal. That means getting as many businesses  as possible on board. But small businesses are already strapped for time, money and resources; an effective solution needs to be ready to go straight out of the box.

and so greener was born.

Genuine sustainability is about understanding your supply chain and working with the right partners, not just changing how you do business in isolation. Our platform does the work of an expert sustainability team for each and every one of our incredible users.

The goal is simple. To minimise the downside – lack of time, money or expertise – and maximise the upside – great partners and solutions – on an easy to use platform.

Our users are already doing the hard part of running a successful small business (and that was hard even before we add in a year of turmoil for the food and drink sector). They are already our inspiration, crafting world-changing innovations and products that lessen our footprint or change the status quo. We are here to help them find one another.

All about that infrastructure.

Offer access to state of the art innovation by reimagining our partnership infrastructure so you get tailored matches in the comfort of your office.

Plus it’s all vetted by industry experts so you might actually have time to get in a quick coffee break before the rush.

Responsible business,
whatever your scale.

Promote responsible production and champion
thoughtful business to encourage sustainable,
regenerative behaviour when we need it most. Things like waste minimisation, optimisation and making the most of finite resources.

Real action heroes.

Every match has climate action at it's core, and can lead to real results from waste or emission reduction, to thinking outside the box on regenerative suppliers or innovative packaging.

Technology makes these solutions scalable, so we can all be part of something bigger.

More than a blind date.

It’s all well and good to offer our community suggested new partners, but why do you go back to that supplier again and again? There’s something deeper at the heart of good business – a common value, a great service, a person on the other end of the phone with your sense of dark humour about that awol delivery.

Aligning objectives with like-minded business owners is crucial to crafting successful, sustainable, longterm partnerships and, ultimately, to building resilience across our industry.
