What is Vetting?
Greener uses vetting in order to ensure providers meet the standards we set
Vetting overview
Vetting is the process we use to ensure that the providers who join our platform are who they say they are, and that they are also able to add sustainability value to our seeker users. This is to provide peace of mind to our seeker users, so that they feel comfortable working with the providers they are matched with.
It is really simple to see if a company is vetted since you'll see the following image on their profile and card:
However, if you DON'T see the verified tick next to a provider user, it doesn't mean that they aren't a great company, it may just mean that we haven't completed our vetting process yet.
If a company fails the vetting process their profile will be hidden until our queries can be resolved.
What do we check?
It is difficult to ensure the legitimacy of suppliers and their sustainability claims. Our vetting process is designed to verify the legitimacy and credentials of Greener users. This process involves 4 main steps:
- Legitimacy: first we investigate the legitimacy of our users by researching what they claim to do and how long they have existed for. We also check that they are actively trading and what their financial status is. We cross check any evidence of suspicious activity or collusion.
- Operational Legitimacy: We ensure that users are active in the industry sector and niche that they have specified in order to provide meaningful matches. We also check for the location of the companies, their capacity and specific offerings too.
- Sustainability claims: our research involves investigating any sustainability claims by our users including ethical labour (anti modern slavery activities, fair trade, fair wages, diverse work environment, etc.), evidence of CSR, waste reduction, emission and toxicity reduction in their supply chains, initiatives to improve sustainability performance, waste reduction, recycling, circular economy, and sustainable procurements. Additionally, we search for all relevant sustainability certificates including BCorp, soil association, fair trade, etc.
- Probity: Our vetting ensures that our users are adhering to standards of integrity, transparency and honesty as well as compliance to local, governmental and international regulations and other codes of conduct.
